About Ramair.

Forty years of specialist engineering for commercial and utility vehicles. Designed from the chassis up, manufactured in Melbourne, supplied globally.

40 years of mount and drive engineering

Ramair was founded in Melbourne, Australia, to design and manufacture mount and drive systems for the commercial vehicle industry. Over 40 years later, with more than 30,000 kits in service across global fleets, the company remains specialist by choice, focused on a narrow engineering discipline executed to a depth that broader manufacturers cannot match.

The original product was the compressor mount kit, an engineered solution to the problem of fitting a transport refrigeration compressor to a truck chassis. From that single product line, Ramair has extended its engineering capability to alternator drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic drive solutions, and battery and electric auxiliary mounting for the new generation of electrified commercial platforms.

Industries served

Ramair kits are in service across food transport and refrigerated logistics, passenger transport, general truck and commercial vehicle fleets, mining, earthmoving, industrial and power generation applications, compressed air installations, and recreational and off road platforms. Bespoke designs are engineered for customers operating outside the standard catalogue.

Across these industries, the customer base spans aftermarket fitters and authorised installers, fleet operators, specialist vehicle body builders, and original equipment manufacturers fitting Ramair kits into finished vehicle offerings.

Engineering approach

Every Ramair kit is engineered around the specific chassis it serves. The bracket geometry, pulley sizing, belt path, and load path are designed for the application rather than adapted to it. The result is a fitment that performs as if it were factory fitted, with the durability expected of a commercial vehicle drive system operating across hundreds of thousands of kilometres.

The engineering process uses 3D CAD modelling for design and 3D printed prototypes for fitment validation before tooling is committed. This investment in digital engineering compresses the development cycle and ensures that the first physical kit produced is the right one.

Manufacturing partnerships with leading European cast bracket producers provide the cast component foundation for the mount kits. Cast brackets deliver 100% manufacturing consistency and repeatability, with no distortion or alignment issues that would compromise belt geometry or compressor life.

Manufactured in Melbourne

All Ramair kits are assembled, inspected, and dispatched from the company's facility at 20 Queen Street, Mitcham, Victoria. The Melbourne base allows direct engineering oversight of every kit, same day dispatch on stocked lines, and a fitment library that is updated continuously as new chassis variants reach the Australian and global markets.

The combination of European cast brackets, Australian engineering, and a Melbourne assembly base produces a product that is genuinely manufactured rather than assembled from off-the-shelf components. This matters for warranty, for traceability, and for the engineering support that follows a kit across its working life.

Looking forward

The near-term shift facing commercial vehicle operators in Australia and globally is the transition to Euro 6 emission standards. New Euro 6 truck platforms bring revised engine bay architectures, modified accessory drive systems, and updated cooling configurations. Existing mount and drive solutions must be re-engineered for these new chassis before fleets can specify accessories with confidence. Ramair's fitment library and engineering capability are positioned for this transition. The brackets are ready as the new platforms reach the market.

Beyond Euro 6, the longer-term industry shift is to electrification. Electric compressors, electric hydraulic pumps, lithium auxiliary battery banks, and electronic control units all require mounting solutions engineered for the vibration, thermal, and structural demands of commercial vehicle service. Ramair extends the same engineering discipline applied to mechanical mount and drive systems for over 40 years to the new electric and battery auxiliary requirements.

The product range continues to expand. The engineering philosophy does not change.
